The Directorate of Technical Education, U.T. , Chandigarh was set up on the formation of Union Territory, Chandigarh in November, 1966. This Directorate is presently headed by Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, PCS who is also functioning as Head of the Department and is the appointing authority for Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts of the Directorate and Technical institutions functioning under its control. The Directorate also looks after the conduct of examination and compilation of results of Both Govt. Industrial Training Institutes. It does not have its own building and is housed in the PEC University of Technology (near Central Library), Sector 12, Chandigarh. Director Technical Education has been declared as Nodal Agency for the pensionary benefits and medical bills of the PEC retirees since 2005. The Directorate of Technical Education controls and coordinates the functioning of following institutes:

Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector-11- C, Chandigarh
