Mission
The role of the Directorate is to maintain, enhance the standard, quality of technical education by laying the policies, establishing developing Govt. Institutions, guiding supervising the aided, private institutions, interacting with industry and national level institutions, co-ordinating with other departments of Chandigarh Administration.
Vision
To facilitate transformation of students into good human beings, responsible citizens and competent professionals, focusing on assimilation, generation and dissemination of knowledge.
The administrative set up of the Directorate is the simple line type organization suitably supported by the supporting staff.
Key Objectives
The Director, Technical Education has distinctly the following independent wings under his administration control.
- 1- Technical Education in Polytechnic at Diploma Level.
- 2- Certificate courses in Govt Industrial Training Institute under NCVT.
- 3- Technical Training and Skill Development through Short term courses under Flagship Scheme of Govt of India.
- 4- Apprenticeship Programme at National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.
Each of the above wing, functions independently under different budget heads governed by separate Service Rules, guidelines of Govt of India. Director of Technical Education is the executive head of both the ministerial and research wings of the department assisted by Superintendents and Research Officer. The activities of the Directorate have been divided in different branches/cells.
